Search warrant leads to 2 drug arrests in Elkins

ELKINS -- Two Elkins men were arrested after multiple officers executed a search warrant on a home on Cole Avenue Friday.

Both Jonathan Jacob Ross, 38, and Steven Robert Ross, 40, have each been charged with possession with intent methamphetamine, possession with intent fentanyl, and conspiracy. They are both being held in Tygart Valley Regional Jail on separate $35,000 cash-only bonds.

According to the criminal complaint, prepared by Patrolman J.H. White of the Elkins Police Department, White and Patrolman First Class R. Summerfield obtained a search warrant on Dec. 27 for a residence on Cole Avenue, based on information obtained during a traffic stop the previous day.

Members of the Elkins Police Department and the West Virginia State Police executed the search warrant, with officers announcing themselves and making contact with subjects inside the home, including Jonathan Jacob Ross and Steven Robert Ross, the complaint states.

While executing the search warrant, officers located "three ledger books containing transactions of money via cash and cash app for narcotics as well as money they owe people and vice versa, $303 in United States currency, multiple bags containing small bags commonly used for drug transactions, eight empty bundles of packaging material (stamps) commonly used to package heroin, one digital scale, two cell phones, two cash app cards, two plastic containers which contain suspected pressed fentanyl pills, one cup containing suspected heroin stamps, one plastic container and three bags of suspected methamphetamine, three cups, two plastic bags and two plastic containers containing suspected fentanyl, one bag containing a yellow capsule ... along with four green unmarked pills, all of which were seized," according to the complaint.

Both men said the items found in the residence were theirs, the complaint states. Jonathan Jacob Ross was transported to the Elkins Police Department for processing, and then to TVRJ. Steven Robert Ross was taken via ambulance to Davis Medical Center as a precaution. According to court documents, Steven Robert Ross was 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed 110 pounds upon arriving at TVRJ.
