Legislative Luncheon set for Elkins Jan. 16

ELKINS — The Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Legislative Luncheon on Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Randolph County Community Arts Center.

The luncheon will get underway at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 16.

Four legislative representatives from the area will take part in the event and field questions compiled by a moderator.

Invited guests to this session include State Senator Bill Hamilton, State Senator Robbie Morris, Delegate Elias Coop-Gonzalez, and Delegate Jonathan Kyle. All four are Republicans and will speak on a host of topics during the event.

Hamilton, who announced in March that he would not run for re-election in 2026, represents District 11 in the West Virginia State Senate. He has held that seat since 2018. Before holding his current position, he was a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 45 from 2003 until 2013.

Morris, meanwhile, is the executive director of the Randolph County Development Authority. He was elected in November as an 11th District state senator, defeating Democrat Mandy Smith Weirich in the General Election.

Coop-Gonzalez won re-election during the General Election, as did Kyle, who defeated Democrat Dama M. Nestor. Coop-Gonzalez was re-elected after defeating City of Elkins councilman Cody Thompson, a Democrat.

There is a fee to attend the event, which is being sponsored by Performance Chevrolet. Tickets can be purchased online at www.erccc.com or calling 304-646-2717.

A lunch buffet will be served at the start of the session, and the program will get underway at noon.

All proceeds from the event will benefit local students’ tuition to the 2025 Rhododendron Girls State, which will take place on the campus of Davis & Elkins College on June 8-14.

Starting at $3.92/week.
