ELKINS -- The Mountain State Forest Festival Woodly the Elf Poster Contest is currently underway.
The winner will become the official mascot of the 87th Mountain State Forest Festival.
The winner of this contest will become a member of the Royal Minor Court of Queen Silvia LXXXVII. Woodly the Elf will also appear at the Buckwheat and Strawberry Festivals.
The poster must depict Woodly and the 2025 theme "Embrace Nature's Charm."
Students eligible include students in Grades 2, 3, 4 in Randolph County in Spring 2025.
Poster Contest Rules include:
1) The poster must depict Woodly the Elf preferably watching or participating in one or more Mountain State Forest Festival events and incorporate this year's theme, "Embracing Nature's Charm".
2) The poster is to be on a 22 x 28 inch poster board.
3) Only one entry per student is permitted; this is not a group project.
4) Be creative and imaginative. You may use glue, glitter, material, etc. in your design. You may not use photos or any identifying text on the front of the poster.
5) On the back of the poster, write the following sentence and sign your name.
"I have completed this poster by myself." -- Jane Doe.
Posters are due by Tuesday, April 1.
The posters must be returned to a teacher or to the new MSFF Office location, at 10 11th Street, Office F in Elkins, WV 26241.
No late entries will be accepted.
Woodly the Elf's costume and associated fees are paid by the sponsor, Citizens Bank of West Virginia.
Four runners-up will be chosen and invited to ride along with Woodly on the Citizens Bank float in the Grand Feature Parade.
The festival will appoint a panel of judges whose decision is final.
In the event the winner is unable to fulfill their duties as Woodly the Elf, the MSFF will appoint a runner-up to the official position.
