Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce hosts annual awards dinner

The award was presented by Christie Tribble, CFO at Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad. Chamber President Zach Elbon and Chamber Executive Director Karrah Washington congratulated the winners.
The Community Art Award went to ArtsBank. The award was presented by Lissa Eason with the Arts Center and Seth Young of the Augusta Heritage Center.
West Virginia University Extension Agent Hannah Fincham was honored with the 2024 Young Leader of the Year Award. Lori Chenoweth of Agency LMC presented the award.
Quint Studer, author of ‘Building a Vibrant Community,’ who visited the county in 2020, returned this week as part of the Chamber’s ‘Building a Vibrant Community 2.0’ initiative, serving as guest speaker during the awards dinner.
Colin McFadden and Heidi Storrick McFadden, new owners of Trickett Hardware, were named the Business Persons of the Year. The award was presented by Rachel Hayes, CFO of Davis Trust Company.

Anne Beardslee, the winner of last year’s Tom Williams Award of Distinction, presented this year’s award. Clementine’s Cantina was honored as the New Business of the Year. The award was presented by Mark Haddix, Board President of the Randolph County Development Authority.
Michael Hayes was honored as the Chamber Member of the Year. The award was presented by Zach Elbon, Chamber Board President.

Jessica Sutton was named the Citizen of the Year. The award was presented by Nathaniel Bonnell, President and CEO of Citizens Bank of West Virginia.
At the close of the ceremony, outgoing Chamber Executive Director Lisa Wood ‘passed the torch’ to the new executive director, Karrah Washington, by presenting her with a giant pair of ‘ribbon-cutting’ scissors.

ELKINS -- Local businesses and individuals were honored during the annual Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce Dinner & Awards this week, during which officials also celebrated the progress Elkins has made in the past five years as a Vibrant Community.
Quint Studer, author of "Building a Vibrant Community," who visited the county in 2020, returned this week as part of the Chamber's "Building a Vibrant Community 2.0" initiative, serving as guest speaker during the awards dinner.
Inspired by Studer's book, which emphasizes making your community a better place to live, work, play and stay, the Chamber began the initial "Building a Vibrant Community" initiative in 2020, distributing 450 copies of his book throughout the community.
"When I walked around downtown Elkins five years ago, there were a lot of gaps," Studer said during the awards dinner. "There were a lot of empty buildings. There wasn't much.
"You've had a lot of growth in the last five years. You're way ahead. There's been a lot of growth, and you've got some new things that are happening right now."
Studer presented a slideshow including photos and information about new businesses in Elkins, and also invited the chamber to come and present information on it's five-year accomplishments during a special seminar in Pensacola, Fla., in September.
He also pledged to donate $5,000 to the Augusta Heritage Center during his visit.
After Studer's speech, the evening's awards ceremony began.
