The Monongahela National Forest is planning prescribed fire operations this month with one of the two scheduled in Pocahontas County at the Upper Greenbrier North Unit off County Route 250/4.

Prescribed fires help reduce overgrown vegetation to help protect local communities, infrastructure and natural resources from wildfires.

The operation areas may close to the public for several days for public safety. Watch for warning signs along roads near all prescribed fire areas before and during burns.

Residents may experience smoke during the prescribed burns. Stay informed about the scheduled prescribed fires through the forest website and social media channels. The Mon Forest will notify county emergency management officials when burning begins.

Starting at $3.92/week.
