ROCK CAVE -- An Upshur County man faces a felony and a misdemeanor charge after allegedly threatening a family member with a pair of scissors.
David Christopher Perrine, 36, of Rock Cave is charged with third-degree domestic assault, a felony, and brandishing a deadly weapon, a misdemeanor.
He is currently being held at Tygart Valley Regional jail on a $20,000 property/surety bond for the felony charge and a $5,000 property/surety bond for the misdemeanor charge.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Lieutenant Marshall W. Powers with the Upshur County Sheriff's Office, on Tuesday, Powers responded to a domestic call on Canaan Road, where he was first advised by the Communication Center that Perrine was "drunk and was getting ready to fight. The Communication Center then advised Powers that Perrine "had a pair of scissors and was going to stab the other guy."
When Powers arrived on the scene, according to the complaint, he found Perrine in the bathroom, wiping his face with a cloth.
After detaining Perrine, Powers spoke with the alleged victim, Perrine's half-brother.
The alleged victim told Powers that Perrine had been drinking, and during an argument with the alleged victim, Perrine "grabbed a pair of scissors and threatened the victim," according to the complaint.
When the alleged victim attempted to leave through the back door, he told Powers that Perrine followed him, according to the complaint. The alleged victim said when he got to the edge of the porch, Perrine was still following him with the scissors, and when Perrine turned around to look at his father, the alleged victim said he grabbed Perrine and "pushed him against the exterior house wall."
According to the complaint, Powers also spoke to Perrine's father, who said, at the time, he had been attempting to take the scissors from Perrine.
The alleged victim told Powers, according to the complaint, that he hit Perrine several times in the face while both he and Perrine's father got the scissors away from Perrine.
According to the complaint, Perrine has two prior domestic convictions, both in Upshur County, making this his third offense.
