ST. GEORGE — Local nurses are being celebrated during National Nurses Week, including the more than a dozen nurses who work for St. George Medical Clinic in Tucker County.

“St. George Medical Clinic is a primary care office that focuses on chronic care management and preventative care,” Nurse Manager Emily Ramsey, RN, told The Inter-Mountain this week. The Clinic “also manages many acute visits (illnesses/injuries). This requires the nurses to triage based off acuity of illness. 

“They are true patient advocates,” Ramsey said. “They voice the patients’ concerns/questions to the providers. A lot of our staff live within Tucker County and take great pride and compassion caring for our local community.”

Ramsey noted that the clinic’s “nursing staff participates in multiple community events, like flu shot clinics, sports physical clinics in the summer, reproductive health education at Tucker County schools, health fairs and CPR classes.”

The St. George Medical Clinic staff includes Pat Summerfield, RN, who provides Chronic Care Management.

“She works with St. George patients who have chronic diseases, focusing on their medical needs and collaborating care with the providers to manage their illnesses more efficiently,” Ramsey said.

Pauletta Ramsey, LPN, is a Referral Nurse on the clinic’s staff.

“She is a member of our referral department,” Emily Ramsey said, noting that she “manages all St. George providers outside referrals for specialties and procedures. She has been our coordinator for services like Bonnie’s Bus (screenings for breast cancer and mammograms) and the Lucas Bus (lung cancer screening and chest CT scans) through WVU.”

Danielle Lambruno, RN, is the clinic’s Chief Compliance Officer.

She handles an “administrative role that consists of developing/implementing policies and procedures, educating staff, maintaining credentialing for all licensed personal, and precepting nursing students from various colleges and universities,” Ramsey said.

The St. George Medical Clinic nursing staff includes Krista Liller, LPN; Jeanna Boyles, LPN; and Lesley White, RN.

The staff of the St. George School-Based Health Clinic, located at Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School, includes Heather Lester, LPN; and Kaitlyn Koontz, RN.

The St. George Canaan Valley Clinic staff includes Rebecca Bennett, RN; and Jamie Reel, RN.

Other nursing support staff includes Lauren McCrum, CMA; Brittany Barkley, CMA; Candy Barr, CMA (Behavioral Health); and Holly Canfield, CNA (Behavioral Health).

National Nurses Week runs from May 6-12. It is part of the overall National Nurses Month, which runs for all of May. It also incorporates International Nurses Day on May 12.
