ELKINS -- A local woman is facing felony charges after she and another woman allegedly forced their way into an apartment and began fighting with a resident inside.
Destiny Rose McDonald, 25, is charged with breaking and entering and conspiracy, both felonies. She is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond, set by Magistrate Mike Dyer.
According to the criminal complaint, prepared by Private First Class D.T. Sayre of the Elkins Police Department, on June 7, officers received a call for service in reference to an "active breaking and entering" incident at an apartment on Central Street.
Officers were told individuals were "actively attempting to gain entry into the residence by 'stabbing the door with a knife.'"
Sayre writes that he arrived on scene and heard someone yelling something about a knife from inside the residence, the complaint states. Two women were inside the residence, including McDonald, who "began to scream and continue causing a disturbance, stating that she would be willing to go to jail."
The complaint states that the front door had "muddy shoe prints on it consistent with an individual kicking it" and officers observed "a busted door jamb where the door was forced open, as well as a broken window with glass on the inside of the residence as if it was forced open from the outside."
The alleged victims told officers that McDonald and the other woman "both attempted to gain access to the residence through the door as well as the living room window," the compliant reads.
Officers were told that McDonald had "armed herself with a 'butchers' knife that was located in the kitchen," according to the complaint. The officers also viewed surveillance video showing McDonald and the other woman "kicking the door and striking the window of the residence."
One of the victims told officers that he tried to "flee to the bathroom" but "both defendants came after him" once inside the apartment, and he "had to fight" them, the complaint states.
McDonald allegedly told officers "she would take the blame for everything," according to the complaint.
