One incumbent defeated in Elkins election

ELKINS – Unofficial results from Tuesday’s municipal election shows the incumbent Fourth Ward Elkins City Council member keeping her seat, while the incumbent Fifth Ward Council member is defeated.

Five of the 10 Elkins City Council seats were up for election this year, including the First Ward seat held by Rob Chenoweth, the Second Ward seat held by Lisa Severino, the Third Ward seat held by Erika Plishka, the Fourth Ward seat held by Nanci-Bross Fregonara and the Fifth Ward seat held by David Parker. Councilmembers serve four-year terms. 

Polls closed at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. 

The Fourth and Fifth wards were the only two contested wards this election.

In Fourth Ward, Fregonara received 131 votes. Her opponent, Jon Clingerman received 35 votes.

In Fifth Ward, challenger Burley Woods garnered 49 votes, defeating Parker, who tallied 35.

In First Ward, incumbent council member Rob Chenoweth, who ran unopposed, received 36 votes. Incumbent Lisa Severino, who was also unopposed, tallied 35 votes for the Second Ward.

In Third Ward, incumbent Erika Plishka, who ran unopposed as well, garnered 10 votes.

There was no race for mayor in the 2025 election due to the 2021 charter change, which states that the mayor of Elkins now has a four-year term limit. Elkins Mayor Jerry Marco’s current term, which began July 1, 2023, will not expire until 2027.
