MABIE - A Randolph County man faces three felony charges involving minors after being arrested during a multi-department felony fugitive apprehension attempt, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office announced.
Pete Rameriz Perez, 45, is charged with gross neglect of a child creating a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury, distributing or exhibiting material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and soliciting a minor via computer, all felonies.
He is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $60,000 cash-only bond issued by Randolph County Magistrate Tracy Harper.
According to a statement released by Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon, on Saturday, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and the Beverly/Randolph County Detachment of the West Virginia State Police responded to Mabie "regarding a felony fugitive apprehension attempt." The West Virginia State Police had been searching for Perez due to three active felony warrants, Elbon said.
"The Agencies worked together and were able to apprehend Perez without incident as he attempted to exit through the basement of the residence," Elbon said in the released statement.
