ELKINS — Tyrand Cooperative Ministries will host a spaghetti dinner in July to support Mill Creek’s Tyrand Parish in several projects.
The spaghetti dinner will be Friday, July 11 at the First United Methodist Church on Kerens Avenue in Elkins. The dinner will run from 3-7 p.m. The proceeds from the dinner will benefit Tyrand Parish in Mill Creek.
“They have 15 different home projects this summer, like building wheelchair ramps, for example, and other household repairs,” Lynn Ritter, a member of the Tyrand board of directors, told The Inter-Mountain. “So they’re needing income in order to purchase the supplies needed to do those, and so we’re doing the fundraiser to help with those costs.”
The spaghetti, meatballs and sauce for the dinner will be prepared by St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Coalton. Participants have the option to eat in or carry out.
Tickets for the dinner can be bought at givebutter.com/X9Bdkl, or can be found on Tyrand Cooperative Ministries’ Facebook page. There is a discounted cost for children age 10 and under.
The dinner will take place the same night as the Completely Unchained concert as part of Our Town’s free Summer Concert Series at the Elkins Depot Amphitheatre. Completely Unchained is known as “the world’s best” Van Halen tribute band.
“(We) encourage people to come and eat their dinner and then go on to the concert the same evening,” Ritter said. “(First United Methodist Church) is within walking distance to the concert, so I think it’s a win-win situation.”
Tyrand Cooperative Ministries also will be offering a hunger walk and block party fundraiser to raise awareness over malnutrition in the community with live music, food, games and more on Saturday, June 21.
Starting at 10 a.m., the hunger walk will begin at the First United Methodist Church on Kerens Avenue in Elkins. The walk path will go from the church to the Allegheny Highlands Trail. Participants are invited to walk or bike, and can go as far or as short as they please, Tyrand said in a release.
The block party fundraiser will begin at noon at the First United Methodist Church. Guests can expect live music, food, games and a dunk tank. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to Tyrand’s Food Pantry.
To register, visit the Tyrand Ministries Facebook page, or sign-up in-person on June 21 at 9:30 a.m. For more information, call Maykala Mayle at 304-335-2788.
