Beverly resident accused of growing marijuana in yard

BEVERLY -- A Randolph County man has been charged after police allegedly found marijuana growing in his yard and home garden.

Gregory Scott Wise, 58, of Beverly, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

According to the criminal complaint, prepared by Trooper H.J. Bonetti of the Elkins Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, on Thursday, Aug. 21, Bonetti and other State Police officers were "conducting eradication" when "arial units located multiple green in color leafy plants suspected to be marijuana plants" at a residence on Ward Run Drive in Beverly.

Officers traveled to the residence, where Bonetti located a green leafy plant "suspected to be a marijuana plant" growing in a garden about 20 feet from the home, the complaint states. Bonetti also located a dried plant suspected to be marijuana plant in the yard, about 20 feet from the home, and two green leafy plants suspected to be marijuana growing in a separate garden 30 feet from the residence.

Bonetti also obtained photos of the plants, according to the complaint.
