Blood drive in Elkins Thursday
ELKINS – Coordinating Council for Independent Living and Choice Care At Home’s Elkins office has partnered with the American Red Cross to sponsor a blood drive.
The drive will be held 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at 501 Wilson Lane, Suite 3 in Elkins.
Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the Red Cross. Donors with all blood types are critically needed.
Coordinating Council for Independent Living and Choice Care At Home is an employee-owned company offering case management and in-home direct care services.
“We support causes that benefit and strengthen the community. This will be the second blood drive that we have sponsored. We are excited about another opportunity to help meet hospital and patient needs through blood donations,” said Tonya Grey, director of Quality and Compliance.
There is no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life. Community members can help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs.
As a thank you, the Red Cross will be offering a $15 gift card for successful donations in August. You may also be offered a free A1C screening.
