MSFF to offer tennis, pickleball tournament
CHARLESTON — The Mountain State Forest Festival will offer a Tennis, Pickleball and Racquetball Tournament, slated to take place on Sept. 20-21.

One local person definitely looking forward to competing in the MSFF event is longtime Elkins physician Dr. Farukh Khan recently put together another strong performance on the Senior Games circuit by bringing home a pair of medals from the 31st Annual West Virginia Senior Sports Classic.
Khan captured a gold medal in singles pickleball action, while placing second in doubles pickleball alongside teammate Gene Berg, who hails from Kentucky. The WVSSC is an annual fitness event for older adults 50 years of age and older.
Khan, who is over the age of 70, competes across counties in various games throughout the year. In late July, Khan had a strong showing in the National Senior Games in Des Moines, Iowa, and said he continues to compete in multiple events each year to help encourage people to exercise and stay active.
“Hopefully I can inspire others to go out and be physically active, especially my patients and friends,” Khan told The Inter-Mountain. “Exercising is a big part of living a healthy life and there are many different ways people can stay physically fit. People need to make sure to check with their doctor before they start any type of exercise, though.”
