Route 33 section closed due to log truck incident
BUCKHANNON — All lanes of Route 33 in the vicinity of the Fred W. Eberle Technical Center were shut down completely on Wednesday afternoon after a log truck hauling a skidder pulled down multiple power lines and poles, according to police scanner traffic.
The section of the interstate was closed at approximately 1:10 p.m., and other side streets in Buckhannon were closed as well due to the incident. Emergency crews and power company personnel arrived at the scene attempting to resolve the issue.
That section of Route 33 was closed until further notice, the Upshur County Office of Emergency Management stated Wednesday afternoon.
According to the state Department of Transportation’s West Virginia 511 site, drivers could detour onto W.Va. Route 20 and Morton Road.
The log truck was headed toward Elkins when it was eventually stopped by law enforcement, according to scanner traffic.
