Jackson’s Mill to host free event

West Virginia University Jackson’s Mill will once again host Harvest Time at the Mill this fall, a history and heritage event.

The event will take place Saturday, Oct. 18 to 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to the public.

“We are excited to once again host our Harvest Time at the Mill event this October! It is hard to believe that this is our third annual event,” Joe Obidzinski, WVU Extension program coordinator, history and heritage, said.

WVU Jackson’s Mill invites people of all ages to experience history and heritage events like milling, blacksmithing, fiber arts, and hearth cooking demonstrations. There also will be several craft and food vendors set up at the event. These planned activities are subject to change depending on volunteer availability.

This is a free event, but donations are welcome to go toward WVU Jackson’s Mill events. If you wish to purchase from any of the select craft and food vendors, cash is recommended.

“I think that the event is a great opportunity to showcase the wonderful history and heritage of West Virginia, and a wonderful opportunity for us to allow the public to see our programs in action. Plus, who doesn’t love West Virginia in the fall?” Obidzinski said.

If you are a craft vendor and would like to take part in the event, please call WVU Jackson’s Mill at 304-269-5100. There is no cost to set up or commission fee.
