Mabie man facing total of 5 felonies

ELKINS — A Randolph County man who was arrested for allegedly stealing a Fed-Ex package is now facing five separate felonies.

Zachary Brophy Flanagan, 31, of Mabie, was arrested after the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant for petit larceny on Sept. 11.

He has been charged with charged with four separate felonies for third-offense shoplifting and one count of petit larceny, also a felony.

Flanagan is currently lodged in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on two cash-only bonds of $10,000 and $2,500.

According to a release from Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon, on Sept. 11 deputies with the RCSO received a complaint of a parcel theft from the Coalton area of Randolph County. The alleged victim was unable to locate a package from Fed-Ex that had been reported as delivered the day before.

According to the release, the alleged victim reviewed video surveillance and discovered the package had been stolen by Flanagan, who was seen driving a blue and black vehicle away from the scene of the theft. Deputies were able to identify Flanagan from the surveillance video, and the Sheriff’s Office obtained arrest and search warrants, which were executed the same day.

During the search warrant execution, the stolen property and related shipment information were recovered, the report states. Flanagan was arrested and charged with petit larceny.

While executing the warrants, it was discovered that Flanagan was wanted by the West Virginia State Police on four active felonies out of Upshur and Randolph counties, according to the complaint. The RCSO executed and arrested Flanagan on the outstanding State Police warrants for third-offense shoplifting.
