Randolph County teams preparing to compete in Run For It

ELKINS — Teams from Randolph County are preparing to take part in the 2025 Run For It charitable event later this month.
Randolph County Run For It teams will compete for more than $90,000 in awards, alongside teams from Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Preston, Tucker, and Upshur counties, as well as from Garrett County, Maryland. Run For It is a 2K walk and 5K race hosted by the Tucker Community Foundation.
The race will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, in Davis, in conjunction with the annual Leaf Peepers Festival. Seventy-four teams will participate, raising funds for causes in the mentioned counties.
Randolph County residents can support their favorite teams by entering the race as participants on a team or by submitting team sponsor donations to as many teams as they wish. Since 2007, Randolph County teams have garnered $533,000 in awards and team sponsor donations to support their respective causes.
This year, there will be 19 teams from Randolph County participating in Run For It: Amazing Arts, ArtsBank Art Educators, Augusta Heritage Center, Beverly Heritage Center, Centers Against Violence, Davis Health System Foundation, Elkins-Randolph County Public Library, Helvetia Public Library, Highlands Trail Foundation, Interact Children’s Museum, Knights of Columbus #603, Lunch with Neighbors, Meals on Wheels, OUR House, Pioneer Memorial Public Library, Randolph County CLIMB, Inc., Randolph County Outdoors Program!, Randolph-Tucker CAC, and YouthBuild — Randolph County Housing Authority.

You can register online until Sept. 21 or in person at the Davis Fire Hall, located at 610 William Avenue in Davis in Tucker County. Registration will take place on Friday, Sept. 26 from 5-7 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 27 from 8-9:30 a.m.
Team sponsor donations can also be mailed to the Tucker Community Foundation at TCF-RFI, P.O. Box 491, Parsons, WV 26287. All team sponsor donations must be made and postmarked by Sept. 21.
“For the past 17 years, Run For It has attracted serious racers and families to our area, supporting local businesses, and has raised over $3.2 million,” a Tucker Community Foundation press release states.
“In 2024, the event drew 1,405 walkers and runners, raising more than $230,000,” the release adds. “These funds were instrumental in supporting 79 non-profit organizations and groups in the Foundation’s 10-county service area and beyond, a testament to our community’s strength and resilience!”
