Woman accused of stealing 7 guns

BUCKHANNON — An Upshur County woman faces a felony charge after allegedly stealing seven firearms – and selling several of them – valued at more than $3,000 from her significant other.

Kimberly Ann Eisel, 51, is charged with grand larceny, a felony. A $75,012 property/surety bond was placed on Eisel, according to Upshur County Magistrate Court records.

According to the criminal complaint, filed by Corporal Samuel W. Shahan with the Buckhannon Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, on July 23 Shahan received a complaint from the alleged victim regarding stolen firearms.

The alleged victim told Shahan that he had been in the process of remodeling his residence and all of his firearms, that were not in his safe, were stored in a bedroom, the complaint states. The alleged victim said he knew the firearms were in the room as of Christmas 2024, but he did not notice them missing until June 1 of this year.

Though the home had a Ring doorbell camera, the alleged victim told Shahan there was no footage of anyone entering the home uninvited, the complaint states.

Only the alleged victim’s immediate family had been inside the residence, he said. To the alleged victim’s knowledge, none of his family had been in the house without him also being present.

The alleged victim gave Shahan the serial numbers for six of the seven stolen firearms, the complaint states. The guns stolen were a Glock 19X, a H&K 9mm, a Smith & Wesson 686, a Glock 42, a Walther 922, a Smith & Wesson M&P and a Stoger M2000 Turkey. Shahan writes that the value of the firearms stolen totaled approximately $3,480.

On Sept. 9, Shahan spoke with ATF Agent Olesh, who stated that he had located one of the stolen handguns at J&S Gun and Pawn in Morgantown, the complaint states.

On Sept. 10, Olesh told Shahan that, with the assistance of the West Virginia State Police, he had been able to recover that stolen handgun, the complaint states. Olesh revealed they had learned that another of the alleged victim’s stolen firearms had also been sold to J&S Gun and Pawn, but it had already been sold to a customer.

According to the complaint, Olesh told Shahan that the same individual had sold both guns to J&S Gun and Pawn. The individual was identified as Eisel, through her West Virginia driver’s license, which had been used to make the sale to the shop.

Shahan contacted the alleged victim on Sept. 10 and informed him of the new information in the case, the complaint states. The alleged victim told Shahan that Eisel was his girlfriend and had been living with him since October 2023.
