ARBOVALE — A winning $100,000 Jumbo Scratcher lottery ticket was sold this week in Pocahontas County, according to the West Virginia Lottery.
The lottery website announced the ticket was purchased by a “Stephen T.” on Sunday. The $100,000 prize is the highest amount possible for the Jumbo Cash game. Another four $100,000 tickets for the game haven’t been sold yet, the site states. The Jumbo Cash game has been offered in West Virginia since January.
The winning ticket was sold at the Bear’s Den in Abovale, near Green Bank in Pocahontas County.
The business posted congratulations on social media to the man who bought the ticket, Stephen Taylor of Taylor Logging LLP in Durbin, and also posted a photo of him holding up the winning ticket and smiling.
“Big winner,” the post reads. “The Bear’s Den wants to congratulate Stephen Taylor on winning 100,000 dollars. We never thought our small town restaurant and store could do it. But who says being a small town store means you can’t win big.”
Taylor’s winning ticket is the biggest lottery prize in West Virginia so far in October, and the biggest in the state overall since early September, when a $1 million Powerball ticket was sold near Hedgesville in Berkley County.
