First ‘Fright Night’ event planned for Saturday in Elkins
ELKINS — The GreenEggs Foundation is gearing up to host the first annual Elkins Fright Night Saturday at the Elkins VFW.
Doors for the event will open at 4 p.m., and the first performers of the evening will take to the stage at 5 p.m. In addition to a host of bands and performers, there will also be door prizes, a 50-50 drawing, as well as food and beverages served by members of the VFW.
“Fright Night is our first annual show and we have planned an evening packed full of music,” GreenEggs Foundation President Lisa Parrish told The Inter-Mountain. “We will have two stages and multiple acts, some who are coming from as far away as Pittsburgh.
“We also have some local bands performing and our headliner is Acid Mine Drainage, who just got off a summer string of shows with CKY. It’s going to be a really fun time for everyone and we recommend that everyone come out wearing their favorite Halloween costumes.”
In addition to Acid Mine Drainage, the list of performers for the event include: Blightyear, Echoes from the Fire, Wish Awake, Briar Williams, Rock Bass, Shapeshifter, Dissonant, Jason Romanus and Reverend Rattlesnake.
The GreenEggs Foundation is a non-profit organization that was established this year. Its ultimate goal is to open a facility in Elkins where school children can continue their passion for the arts. All of the proceeds from the event will go toward that goal.
“The GreenEggs Foundation was started because of a lot of the school cuts going on in schools with the arts, music and creative writing,” Parrish said. “We want to get a facility where the kids can continue their passion, whether it be music, art, writing or theater. And it’s not going to be driven by us, it’s going to be driven by them. The kids will be able to pick what they want to do and we get it set up so they can do it.”
Parrish said her late husband, Sam, was very passionate about the arts and keeping it going in the area. So after his sudden passing in 2024, the foundation was created in his honor.
“Fright Night is only possible because of our amazing sponsors,” Parrish said. “The community has been truly amazing with us putting this event together. We hope we have a lot of people come out and support a great cause.”
