Police identify woman killed in Mill Creek incident

MILL CREEK — Police have released the identity of a woman involved in a fatal wreck in the Mill Creek area Saturday morning.

Amber N. Shreve, 43, of Mill Creek, was struck by a vehicle while on Back Road, according to information released by the West Virginia State Police.

The cause of the crash and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation.

Over the weekend, State Police reported that at approximately 2 a.m Saturday., a motorist traveling along Back Road in the Mill Creek area struck an object lying in the roadway, initially believed to be a deer.

The driver stopped “a short distance from the scene” and contacted Randolph County 911 to report the incident, the release states.

“Upon arrival, first responders determined that the object was not a deer, but an adult female who was deceased,” according to the release.

The victim’s body was transported to the West Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy and positive identification.
