Elkins to consider speed limit change

ELKINS — Elkins City Council will consider an ordinance to reduce the speed limit to 15 miles per hour on several streets during their meeting this week.

During City Council’s Dec. 4 meeting, the council will consider the first reading of Ordinance 349, which would reduce the speed limit to 15 miles per hour on all streets bounded by Sycamore Street, Randolph Avenue, Diamond Street and the City’s eastern boundary.

The speed limits on Sycamore Street, Randolph Avenue and Diamond Street will not be reduced if Ordinance 349 is passed.

Also during this meeting, Council will recognize the Elkins High School Cross-Country Team, reappoint five members of different City commissions and boards and discuss the vacancy in the City HR Director position.

The Elkins City Council will meet on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Phil Gainer Community Center.

Starting at $3.92/week.
