Officials: New fiber internet line almost finished in Barbour
PHILIPPI — Barbour County officials announced Friday afternoon that construction is almost complete on a new state-of-the-art fiber internet line delivering gigabit speeds within the county.
A Barbour County Development Authority press release Friday stated that Digital Connections, Inc., doing business in the county as Prodigi, “has completed 118 miles of fiber, mostly along Route 92 from the Preston/Barbour County line to Belington. The company is on schedule to have all 135 miles of fiber construction completed by the end of 2025.”
The $7.3 million project will provide connectivity to 702 targeted addresses in Barbour County, mostly on the eastern side of the county, the release stated.
Cheryl Wolfe, executive director of the Barbour County Development Authority, said, “We are happy to welcome Prodigi to Barbour County. They are a great West Virginia-based company with affordable rates and great service.”
