The heavy snow buried many vehicles on Jan. 23, 2016, which meant a lot of uncovering work for local residents, using brooms, scrapers and other implements. Some people, like Joe Groves used ATVs and side-by-sides to plow their driveways after the winter storm. The 18 inches of snow was the most the Elkins area received during one storm from 2016 to 2025.
