Arrests result from Upshur police efforts
BUCKHANNON — Six people were arrested in a joint operation between the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office and two West Virginia State Police detachments, officials report.
The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office announced that a joint operation in southern Upshur County on Friday, Jan. 23 “yielded numerous arrests.”
The operation was conducted at approximately 5 p.m. on Jan. 23 by the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia State Police detachments in both Upshur and Lewis counties.
The first arrest occurred after Upshur County Sheriff’s Office deputies obtained a search warrant for a residence located on Straight Fork Road. The warrant resulted in the apprehension of Dusty Turner Sr. who, according to the Sheriff’s Office, was wanted by the West Virginia State Parole Board.
Brice Turner was also arrested as an alleged fugitive from justice from Ohio. According to the release from the Sheriff’s Office, subsequent search of Brice Turner allegedly revealed drugs on his person. Turner faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of suboxone and two counts of obstructing an officer by providing false identification to officers.
Later on the evening of Jan. 23, deputies encountered and arrested Roger Tiffner Sr. in the area of Rock Cave for allegedly driving on a license revoked for DUI, the release states.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence Burr was also arrested by deputies in Rock Cave for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
After a reported fight at the Kanawha Lounge in Buckhannon, Joseph Morrison was arrested for alleged prohibited person and prohibited person possessing a concealed firearm, the Sheriff’s Office reports.
Deputies also arrested John Smith for driving under the influence of alcohol after allegedly being observed traveling at a high rate of speed and running over a curb in Buckhannon.
