Interact Children’s Museum offering downtown event
ELKINS — The Interact Children’s Museum invites families to enjoy fun, food and community support during a fundraiser event today.
From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, families can join the Interact Children’s Museum at Big Timber Brewing Company for a “special Kids Play and Adults Sip event.” The fundraiser event is open to the public, and no advance registration is required.
The event is intended for all ages, even older kids. According to a museum spokesperson, children will have opportunities to play and explore, while adults can enjoy beverages “in a relaxed, social atmosphere.”
Organizers say the goal of the event is to create a “fun, inclusive environment that allows families to support a local nonprofit while spending time together.”
A portion of the proceeds from the event will go toward the museum’s programming and ongoing community impact.
Several downtown businesses are also participating by offering special Interact Children’s Museum deals throughout the evening, encouraging attendees to “make a night of it” in downtown Elkins.
“This is a great example of how local businesses can come together to support children and families in our community,” ICM Board of Directors President Lisa Martin said in a release from the museum. “It’s a great way to have fun while supporting our cause.”
Martin said the funds will help the museum with its move into the historic Dann Building on the corner of Davis Avenue and Third Street, which officials hope to accomplish by the spring.
In September, the ICM Board of Directors signed a two-year lease with Seneca Mall LLC for use of the Dann Building. The location will “serve as the new home of Interact and give families from throughout the region a play to visit and enjoy,” an ICM release announcing the move stated.
Since 2019, the Interact Children’s Museum has operated as a mobile museum.
Museum officials will also be starting a new fundraising campaign soon ahead of the move into the Dann Building.
