Arrested woman told police she was her sister

ELKINS — Randolph County officials say an Ohio woman who is facing felony charges allegedly misidentified herself to local police as being her sister.

Brittany Marie Sorvillo, 32, is charged with one count of conspiracy. She is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional on a $10,000 cash-only bond.

According to the initial criminal complaint filed by Lt. C.G. Boatwright with the Elkins City Police Department, on Feb. 11, when Brittany Marie Sorvillo and Arnold Glenn Shiflett II, 38, were arrested, Brittany Marie Sorvillo allegedly identified herself as Brianna Nicole Sorvillo, 23.

According to the complaint, the female subject, “after multiple attempts to identify her,” reportedly gave police multiple dates of birth. Knotts spoke with Sorvillo and, when asked if she was in a physical altercation, Sorvillo allegedly said no, but appeared to be upset.

According to an updated criminal complaint filed by Boatwright, on Feb. 12, the real Brianna Nicole Sorvillo called Randolph County 911 to speak with an officer.

Patrolman Davis with the Elkins City Police spoke with the caller, who allegedly stated that she was the real Brianna Nicole Sorvillo and the woman in custody was her sister, Brittany Marie Sorvillo, the complaint states.

Boatwright writes in the complaint that there are “charges to follow.”

Shiflett is charged with six counts of manufacturing or possessing Schedule I or II narcotic or methamphetamine with intent to deliver, one count of person prohibited from possessing a firearm and one count of conspiracy, all felonies. Shiflett is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond.

During the arrest, officers allegedly located two knives and multiple buprenorphine strips on Shiflett’s person, the complaint states.

Upon further investigation, Shiflett was allegedly found to be in possession of a silver colored Taurus .38 Special revolver; a bag of a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana; a pre-rolled joint of suspected marijuana; another small baggy of a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana; a total of 44 buprenorphine strips; four oblong white colored pills imprinted with G037 and identified as hydrocodone; multiple unused baggies consistent with the sale and distribution of illegal substances; eight white colored circular pills that could not be identified; five small baggies of a crystal like substance consistent with methamphetamine; five large baggies of a crystal like substance consistent with methamphetamine; and two Apple iPhones, according to the complaint.

During the arrest, Sorvillo was allegedly found to be in possession of a small baggy with a “powder substance consistent with fentanyl,” the complaint states. She reportedly told officers that she had been asked to hold the baggy by Shiflett. Sorvillo was then placed into custody.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sorvillo on Feb. 20 in Randolph County Magistrate Court.
