Ohio man, woman face drug charges

Shiflett

ELKINS — An Ohio man and woman both face felony charges, including conspiracy, after the man was allegedly found with several baggies of marijuana, methamphetamine and pills, as well as a firearm, in Randolph County.

Arnold Glenn Shiflett II, 38, is charged with six counts of manufacturing or possessing Schedule I or II narcotic or methamphetamine with intent to deliver, one count of person prohibited from possessing a firearm and one count of conspiracy, all felonies. Shiflett is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond.

Brianna Nicole Sorvillo, 23, is charged with one count of conspiracy. She is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional on a $10,000 cash-only bond

According to the criminal complaint filed by Lt. C.G. Boatwright with the Elkins City Police Department, on Feb. 11, Patrolman T.J. Knotts, Corporal R.A. Summerfield and Boatwright were advised of a “possible physical domestic situation” on Pleasant Avenue in Elkins.

Randolph County 911 also advised that a male subject wearing a black jacket and a red hat had hit a female subject, the complaint states. Summerfield located the male and female subject first and was then joined by Knotts and Boatwright. Boatwright began speaking to the male subject allegedly identified as Shiflett.

According to the complaint, Shiflett was allegedly “acting very odd” and reportedly admitted to Boatwright that he had littered an electronic cigarette.

While checking Shiflett for weapons, Boatwright allegedly smelled a “strong odor of marijuana,” the complaint states. Boatwright also reportedly could see a bag consistent with packaging of marijuana. A glass smoking device “with white residue” was also allegedly seen in Shiflett’s pocket.

Boatwright then felt a bag around Shiflett’s back which allegedly felt as though it had a firearm inside, the complaint states. A knife was allegedly felt in Shiflett’s waistband.

When Boatwright informed Shiflett that he was being detained, Shiflett allegedly began to “act evasive,” the complaint states. As Boatwright motioned to Summerfield “to be ready,” Shiflett allegedly attempted to flee.

Shiflett was then “assisted to the ground” and placed in hand restraints, the report states

During another search of Shiflett’s person, officers allegedly located multiple baggies of a “crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine,” the complaint states. Shiflett reportedly continued to resist and attempted to climb the brush guard of a police cruiser and onto the hood.

Boatwright writes in the complaint that he placed Shiflett back on the ground to continue the search of Shiflett’s person.

Officers allegedly located two knives and multiple buprenorphine strips on Shiflett’s person, the complaint states. Shiflett was then placed in the back of Summerfield’s cruiser.

The complaint states that, upon further investigation, Shiflett was allegedly found to be in possession of a silver colored Taurus .38 Special revolver; a bag of a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana; a pre-rolled joint of suspected marijuana; another small baggy of a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana; a total of 44 buprenorphine strips; four oblong white colored pills imprinted with G037 and identified as hydrocodone; multiple unused baggies consistent with the sale and distribution of illegal substances; eight white colored circular pills that could not be identified; five small baggies of a crystal like substance consistent with methamphetamine; five large baggies of a crystal like substance consistent with methamphetamine; and two Apple iPhones.

Shiflett was reportedly recently released from prison and was on supervised parole for a 2022 conviction of possessing drugs with intent to manufacture or deliver narcotics, the complaint states.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Shiflett on Feb. 23 in Randolph County Magistrate Court.

According to the complaint, the female subject, allegedly identified as Sorvillo “after multiple attempts to identify her,” reportedly gave police multiple dates of birth. Knotts spoke with Sorvillo and, when asked if she was in a physical altercation, Sorvillo allegedly said no, but appeared to be upset.

Sorvillo was allegedly found to be in possession of a small baggy with a “powder substance consistent with fentanyl,” the complaint states. She reportedly told officers that she had been asked to hold the baggy by Shiflett. Sorvillo was then placed into custody.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sorvillo on Feb. 20 in Randolph County Magistrate Court.
