ELKINS — The Randolph County Board of Education honored personnel and handed out certificates during the most recent BOE meeting.
During the Recognition and Awards portion of the meeting, Randolph County Schools recognized its National Board Certified Teachers during the Staff Spotlight section, and Citizens Bank of West Virginia during the Community Spotlight section.
“We are starting to try to remind folks of all the people that help make our schools do the things that we are capable and able to do,” Dilly said. “We can’t do this without our partners, without our community members contributing in lots of different ways. So we are going to try and continue to recognize folks this evening both on different levels.”
Susan McCauley, Coordinator of Technology, Secondary Curriculum and TIS (Technology Integration Specialist), spoke about the Board Certified Teachers before Superintendent of Schools Dr. Charles Dilly presented them with certificates.
“I spoke briefly about National Board Certified Teachers a couple of weeks ago, and that prompted a request in one of our leadership meetings that we formally recognize all National Board Certified Teachers who have had an impact on Randolph County Schools,” McCauley said. “Because some of them have never been recognized in the past, that’s what we are doing tonight. These are teachers, and some have moved in administrative roles that are still working for Randolph County Schools, and others have moved on to other jobs. Some have retired and a lot of them still impact education in Randolph County and further out.”

Those recognized were Kenna Barger, Andrew Carroll, Scott Cutright, Lucy Godwin, Leigh Ann Hoffman, Brad Martin, Susan McCauley, Luanna Moore, Julia Nestor, Scott Ramsey, Jessie Roberts, Hugh Roy, Nanette Seligman, Wendy Thurston, and Sarah Wamsley.
“A lot of them are still making an impact, whether they are employed as a Randolph County school teacher or not,” McCauley said. “And that says a lot about the type of person that decides to pursue National Board Certification.”
During the meeting, Dilly presented Citizens Bank of West Virginia Senior Vice President & Chief Compliance Officer Belinda Clevenger with a certificate of appreciation.
“We want to thank her (Clevenger) for the bank’s contributions to our schools. We would not be able to do the many things that we do without these partners,” Dilly said. “We want to thank the bank for their ongoing support for the school system.”
The next Randolph County Board of Education meeting will be Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m.
