ELKINS — Davis & Elkins College’s Department of English celebrated student writing across campus during the 2026 Writers’ Showcase.

The event took place on March 16 in Joni & Buck Smith Forum and Paull Gallery in the Myles Center.

Students presenting the moderated panels include Tessa Banasiak, Cameron Branham, Emiliana Golac, A.J. Headly, Alexis Hewitt, Chineda Ikem, Jahniya Marion, Kade Melton, Reba Moore, Alyssa Moss, Christopher Osborn, Marina Saviceva-Noti, Rylan Sharp, Amber Short, Cathrynne Tenney, Ana Ubalde, Lydia Wamsley, Cayden Warfield, MacKendrick Weber, Spencer Willey, Kelsi Wilson-Hott, Karmen Wolverton, Ian Wood and Sophia Yancy.

“We’re very proud of our students at D&E, and we’re excited for them to showcase their dynamic scholarship and writing,” said Assistant Professor of English Colten Biro. “The event brings together writing in multiple genres, including creative writing and new media compositions — inviting students to think about writing as a complex process in the digital age of the twenty-first century.

“Even to be invited to the showcase, a student must be nominated by a faculty member for their exceptional work. These are some of our best students doing their best work, and we’re always excited to see them shine.”

Panels were held under the following categories: “Writing a Heartfelt Home”; “Daring Digital Advocacy”; “Amazing Analysis & Argument”; “Complex Concepts, Clear Compositions”; “Monstrosity, Madness, & Literary Monsters”; and “New Media Masterpieces.”

A final panel, titled “Creative Campus Voices,” took place in the Joni & Buck Smith Forum as the Aurora Open Mic event. Speakers Kristin Coleman, Sidney Megna, Damian Stevenson and Alyssa Stump presented their respective works under the direction of moderator and Assistant Professor of English, Creative Writing, Sydney Tammarine.
