ELKINS — An Elkins man is facing a felony charge after allegedly stealing property from a residence on Country Club Road.
Eddie Ray Collins, 34, is charged with one count of entry of a building other than dwelling, a felony. He is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond.
According to the criminal complaint, filed by Trooper T.E. Workman with the Elkins detachment of the West Virginia State Police, on Feb. 28, at approximately 5:18 p.m., Workman was informed of a burglary/trespassing call that occurred at a residence on Country Club Road in Elkins.
Workman spoke to the alleged victim, who advised that his secondary home had been broken into and property had been stolen, the complaint states. The alleged victim told Workman that he had not been to the residence and did not know what was stolen, but advised that he had images of the suspect at the residence with timestamps.
The alleged victim also said that a relative of Collins had identified him as the suspect in the photo after seeing the image posted on Facebook, according to the complaint.
On the same date, at approximately 7:09 a.m., Collins was allegedly on a trail camera located at the residence on Country Club Road, the complaint states. Collins allegedly backed his vehicle with a trailer up to the residence’s garage. He then reportedly proceeded to enter into the house and garage “without breaking due to the residence’s deteriorating condition.” Collins then allegedly loaded up property into the trailer and left with the items.
According to the complaint, the total value of the items taken from the residence is currently unknown.
