Elkins motorsports business expanding

ELKINS — Those who have been wondering what kind of construction work is being done near Elkins Motorsports on a hill across from the Beverly Five-Lane now have an answer.

After nearly 40 years in business, Elkins Motorsports is in the process of building a new, “modern, leading-edge” facility in their current location, the business announced.

“We’re aiming to expand with limited disruptions to our neighbors and community,” Sam Cusimano, director of Business Development and Employee Relations, said in the release. “But we’ve fielded a lot of questions about what is happening here, so we decided to share the good news with our whole community. We’re very excited to eventually welcome you all to a new building with space for everyone to shop and explore comfortably.”

Located at 108 Chemistry Drive on the Beverly Five Lane, Elkins Motorsports is currently undertaking a “long-overdue” expansion project, the business announced in a press release. The first steps in the project include making space in the business’ current location for a brand new 29,000-square-foot showroom, with more to come in the “near future.”

“We’ve outgrown this space and it’s time to build the kind of retail establishment that our customers deserve,” qwner Sterling Daniels said in the release. “Where they can see all of our exceptional inventory and take advantage of the service and repairs our expert technicians offer.”

Sterling Daniels, who took over the business from his father Ron Daniels in 2017, explained further that, with the expansion and new facility, the company will be able to carry more inventory, which, in his words, will help the community “buy all their motorsports accessories locally.”

According to Elkins Motorsports, plans for the new building include a reception and waiting area, as well as sales and financing offices. The facility will also offer “plenty of space” to showcase every brand the dealership carries, which includes Can-Am, Polaris, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Beta, SSR, Kayo and Aluma.

Plans also include a “more spacious, cutting-edge” service area and more parking. Elkins Motorsports notes that expanded parking is “an amenity that all current customers will agree is desperately needed.”

Ascent Consulting & Engineering is supervising the project, the release states, with Kanawha

Stone contracting the sitework. Smokey Joe Enterprises has handled demolition services.

Elkins Motorsports was opened by Ron Daniels as “Elkins Suzuki” in 1986 and, according to the company, has grown into a premier dealer for motorcycles, ATVs, side’by’sides and accessories, and is considered a leading Can’Am supplier in the area. The business has since expanded to the Elkins location on Chemistry Drive and to a second location at 137 Nelson Road in Thomas, which focuses on specialty service, repairs and accessories.

“Veteran owned and operated, we pride ourselves in customer service,” Elkins Motorsports said in the release. “With a large inventory of both new and used machines we have something for everyone!”
