BUCKHANNON -- The Colonial Arts Center will house a no charge, all-ages "high energy" rock show with three local bands on Saturday.
Described by its organizers as the "best concert Buckhannon has ever seen," the local music night on March 14 is a free event for all-ages. Doors will open at the Colonial Arts Center located at 48 E. Main Street at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The show will see performances from local groups Acid Mind Drainage, Waking Under Water and Wish Awake.
The Elkins-based band Wish Awake will open the show from 7 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. According to their social media page, Wish Awake is an "original magic folk rock (band) with a touch of reggae, celtic/world and country." The band is made up of members Leskie and Stephie Tompkins.
At 7:30, co-headliners and Buckhannon locals Waking Under Water will perform. Their set will go until 8:10 p.m. According to a social media post announcing the show on Saturday, Waking Under Water is a "time warp back to the 90's original rock-n-rollers that started it all."
Headliners, and also Buckhannon locals, Acid Mind Drainage will take the stage from 8:20 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday night. Described as "Buckhannon's High Energy Rock-n-Rollers," Acid Mind Drainage is returning to the Colonial Arts Center after a nearly sold-out show last year, according to the Center. The band described themselves on social media as "psych, jam, allstars, high energy rock-n-roll."
Acid Mind Drainage member Tom Fultz said the concert is expected to reach "sellout capacity," so those interested in attending are advised to arrive at the venue early.
The show is sponsored by both the Colonial Arts Center and the GreenEggs Foundation.
According to its website, the Colonial Arts Center serves as a community arts hub, facilitating and providing venues for "creative and educational opportunities for students, artists and audience members through diverse programming." The center states that it maintains its rich history and, through the City of Buckhannon's management, "continues to create more artistic experiences for the community."
A nonprofit organization, the GreenEggs Foundation "exists to inspire creativity and ignite a lifelong love for the arts in school-age children," according to its social media. The foundation aims to "nurture imagination, self-expression and confidence," while empowering the next generation of artists, thinkers and dreamers.
