Philip Barbour prom to take place outdoors

PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour High School’s 2026 junior senior prom will take place on Main Street in Philippi, the City announced.

On March 24, the City of Philippi announced on social media plans for Philip Barbour High School’s junior senior prom to take place on Main Street this year on Saturday, May 9.

This year’s prom theme is “A Night on the Town,” with a City of Philippi social media post saying “there couldn’t be a more perfect setting than downtown Philippi.”

“We are so excited to see prom stay local this year and to watch our community come together to make this a truly special and unforgettable evening for our young people,” a City of Philippi social media post states. “It’s going to be a beautiful night on Main Street!”

The event will take place in and around the Barbour County Circuit Court on North Main Street, with the location being “transformed into a magical space complete with lights overhead,” the post states. In the event of inclement weather that evening, a tent will be placed on-location.

According to Philip Barbour High School’s dance guest permission request form, all PBHS dances must have eight chaperones present, four of which must be school staff members. The list of chaperones must be presented to the administration one week in advance of the dance.

Attendance at PBHS dances are limited to Philip Barbour High School Complex students and their approved guests, which can vary from people at the ninth grade level and people who are not over the age of 20.

When a student is not enrolled at Philip Barbour, a copy of their photo ID must be attached to the request form before an administrator will approve them as a guest to a dance. Application forms for guest attendance are available through the PBHS office. Only one guest will be permitted per student. Forms are due to the PBHS office by the end of the school day prior to the dance.

Starting at $3.92/week.
