Winter Fair slated in Barbour County

PHILIPPI — The Barbour County Community Educational Outreach Services (CEOS) and Barbour County 4-H are gearing up for another Winter Fair.

The Fair will be on Friday, March 6, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, March 7, 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. It will be held at Battler’s Knob in Philippi, the former Alderson Broaddus University. There will be food, entertainment, demonstration, workshops, kid’s activities and crafters all day long.

The Barbour County Community Outreach Services (CEOS) is a nonprofit organization that has three clubs in the county, The Tacy CEOS Club, The Birch CEOS Club and the Silent Grove Club. They support many organizations such as the First Responders, Ronald McDonald House, Suicide Awareness, Domestic Violence, 4-H, cancer care, local schools, Energy Express, and many more charities.

The Fair will have a full menu of delicious items: homemade soups, cornbread, lamb burgers, hotdogs, pickled eggs, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked goods and pork BBQ. There are classes which include line dancing, basket weaving, food preservation, succulents, sewing, wood barn quilt, and making your own vanilla. Please call the Barbour County Extension Service to register for these classes; there is a fee. Kids’ activities are free.
