DAVIS – Organizers are busy preparing for the 19th annual running of a major charitable event that has raised more than $3.6 million over the years.

The Tucker Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2026 Run For It campaign is officially underway. The campaign will culminate in a 2k walk and a 5k walk/run on Saturday, Sept. 26 in Davis, coinciding with the annual Leaf Peepers Festival.

“This year, we’re encouraging all of our teams to think creatively and develop innovative fundraising strategies that not only connect them with supporters but also raise critical awareness for their respective causes,” said Angie Pase, development director and Run For It event coordinator.

“This proactive approach not only enhances fundraising capabilities but also fosters greater community involvement and sponsorship opportunities. By raising awareness through these fundraising efforts, we highlight the vital issues each organization represents, generating broader support for their missions.

“The consistent growth of this program reflects our belief that true impact lies in active community engagement, creativity, and exploring diverse avenues to secure donations and sponsorships,” Pace said. “Through these collaborative efforts, organizations can flourish and make a lasting difference in the lives of those they serve.”

Founded in 1988, the Tucker Community Foundation has expanded its services to include Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Preston, Randolph, Tucker and Upshur counties in West Virginia, as well as Garrett County, Maryland. The Foundation’s mission is to inspire a sustainable future through a culture of giving without expecting anything in return.

Run For It is a fundraising program initiated by the Foundation in 2007 that promotes healthy activities and supports nonprofit organizations, civic groups, and charities within our ten-county service area.

The program has successfully raised more than $3.6 million, enabling teams to generate funds through entry fees, sponsorships, and race day awards. Half of the entry fees, along with all sponsorship and award donations, are directed to the selected causes. The initiative supports a wide range of activities, including the arts, animal welfare, education, and community improvement, while also providing networking opportunities for organizations in our region and beyond.

Run For It brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds who are dedicated to making a positive impact. In 2025, the event attracted over 1,300 participants and raised $340,000, benefiting 79 nonprofit organizations and groups in our ten-county service area.

Nonprofit and charitable organizations in our region often face limited resources, but Run For It seeks to empower them by maximizing their potential for operational support, officials said. In recent years, the program has experienced significant growth, steadily increasing its impact and outreach.
