Fatal wreck leads to vehicular homicide charge

MILL CREEK — A Randolph County woman has been arrested and charged with vehicular homicide in connection with an October 2025 traffic fatality.

On Oct. 18, 2025 at approximately 2 a.m., troopers from the Elkins Detachment responded to Back Road in Mill Creek after Randolph County 911 received a call from the suspect, April Dawn Kenney, 43, of Mill Creek, stating that she struck something with her vehicle.

Upon arrival, troopers discovered the victim, Amber Nicole Shreve, 38, of Beverly, had been struck by a vehicle and was deceased. 

On Wednesday, after a lengthy investigation by troopers from the Elkins Detachment and the West Virginia State Police crash reconstruction team, Kenney was arrested for vehicular homicide, according to a release from Sgt. S.C. Allen in Charleston.

Kenney was taken to Tygart Valley Regional Jail and was later released on a $5,000 cash bond.
