ELKINS – The Randolph County Board of Education honored this year’s Teacher and Service Personnel of the Year during last week’s regular meeting at the Central Office.
During the Informational Reports & Recognition Section of the meeting, Randolph County Schools Director of Personnel, Human Resources & Staff Development, Mike DiPasquale, handed out the awards and certificates to all of the nominees.
“In my short time in my position, I have to say this is probably the most fun thing I get to do,” DiPasquale said. “Because a lot of these individuals sacrifice time away from their own families to make our buildings a better place and to help children who are not their own children, although they will probably tell you they are their own children.”
Kaylee Cross, a preschool teacher at Beverly Elementary, was named Teacher of the Year, while Pam Rosencrance, cafeteria manager at Beverly Elementary, was selected as Service Personnel of the Year.
Cross, who is known as Mrs. Kaylee by her students, has been a teacher at BES for eight years. Cross helped bring back the Parent Teacher Organization at the school and currently manages the PTO Facebook page. She also coordinates the annual school carnival, volunteers with the Beverly Bookmobile and leads the school’s Make it Shine Day.
Rosencrance, meanwhile, has worked with Randolph County Schools for over 34 years. She is known for going above and beyond for students and staff and works closely with the school to help coordinate special events and school programs.
“Mrs. Rosencrance exemplifies what it means to serve with pride and purpose,” said Beverly Elementary School Principal Paul Zickefoose. “Her work reflects a deep commitment to the students, staff, and community. She is a valuable part of the Wildcat family…Mrs. Kaylee exemplifies what it means to lead with heart, serve with purpose and make a lasting difference.”
