Third annual multi-county event planned
BUCKHANNON — The third annual State of the Corridor event will be offered Wednesday at the Brushy Fork Event Center.
Representatives and leaders from Randolph, Upshur and Lewis counties will headline the informative meeting, which is scheduled to take place from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The inaugural event was also held at the Brushy Fork Event Center in 2024 before moving to Magnolia Hall at Scott Hill in Elkins last year. Leaders attending the event will discuss developments and future plans for each of their counties.
Randolph County Development Authority Director Robbie Morris, Randolph County Commissioner Cris Siler and Elkins Mayor Jerry Marco will be on hand to provide information about Randolph County.
Regional leaders, business, and community members will come together during the event to share insights, ideas, and help shape what is next for the region and the construction of Corridor H.
“I’m sure there will be some discussions about pushing to get Corridor H finished,” Siler, who will be making his second appearance at the event, told The Inter-Mountain. “We also want to discuss how we make sure that it stays on track and remains on the timeline we are currently on.”
Siler believes that getting together with other regional leaders at the event is beneficial for everyone involved.
“It’s a formal open meeting where everyone gets together and each county can share ideas and let everyone know what direction they are headed in,” Siler said. “It’s informative not only for all the leaders who attend, but the public as well.”
Buckhannon Mayor Robert Skinner and Upshur County Commission President Kristie Tenney will be on hand for Upshur County at the event, while Lewis County will be represented by Lewis County Commissioner Agnes Queen, Lewis County Development Authority Director Ray Smith, and City of Weston Finance Manager Joseph Solberg.
Tickets for the luncheon event, which is being hosted by the Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce, Elkins-Randolph County Chamber, and Lewis County Chamber, are available at www.eventbrite.com.
