Accidental shooting injures 2
VALLEY BEND — Police and other emergency personnel responded to a call concerning an accidental shooting in Valley Bend on Thursday evening.
According to Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office assisted on a 911 call that was handled by the Elkins Detachment of the West Virginia State Police. Elbon told The Inter-Mountain on Friday that the shooting was self-inflicted and that two people were injured as a result of the accident.
“A man shot himself while taking his gun apart and a bullet went through his left hand and wrist area,” Elbon said. “The West Virginia State Police took the main call and we assisted. The bullet went through the man’s hand and ended up striking his daughter in the shoulder and she suffered superficial wounds from it.”
Elbon said that man was flown to Morgantown for treatment, while the daughter was taken to the Davis Medical Center to have her wound examined.
