ELKINS – Tequila Taco Bar officially celebrated the opening of its Elkins location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Elkins-Randolph County of Chamber on Friday.

The family-owned business is the second Tequila Taco Bar located in the Mountain State, with the other being in Fayetteville. Owner Pedro Rosales and Manager Antonio Solis were joined at the ceremony by Elkins Mayor Jerry Marco, ERCC Director Karrah Washington and other local leaders.

“We’ve been working to get the restaurant open for around five to six months, so we were very happy to see today finally come,” Solis said. “We’ve been working hard to get it all together and everything has turned out great. We are excited to be open.”

Tequila Taco Bar is located on Harrison Avenue, across from the Vandalia Health Davis Emergency Department in the former Elkins Motor Lodge 1863 Tavern. The business offers a large dining area, a private dining room, and a full bar.

Owners of Tequila Taco Bar wanted to make the business as eye-friendly as possible for those enjoying everything it has to offer. The restaurant is decorated from top-to-bottom with lights, artwork, flowers, decorations and more. There are also hand-painted murals on several of the walls.

“Many of the lights, the paintings, and the decorations were brought in from Mexico,” Solis said. “We wanted to make it a little bit different for people when they walk in. We want people to come in, enjoy a good dinner or lunch, grab a drink, and have a good time.”

Even though the business’ name has Taco in it, the food menu at Tequila Taco Bar is loaded with an array of different options.

“We have a big selection of food for everyone to enjoy,” Solis said. “We have a lot of tacos and some new dishes like posole, which is a traditional kind of soup. And we have all the traditional items like fajitas, burritos, enchiladas, and more. We have a very big menu. A lot of people think that because we are called Tequila Taco Bar it means a lot of tequila and a lot of tacos. But we have a big open menu and once you walk in you will be surprised with how much we have.”

The restaurant also features chimichangas, nachos, taco salads and other traditional Mexican dishes to choose from, as well as a host of appetizers, a vegetarian menu, and a kids menu.

“Anyone who likes burritos needs to try the Burrito Durango that is filled with steak, chicken, and shrimp,” Rosales said. “It is really delicious and something everyone needs to try. And the Burrito Patron, which has steak, chicken, and Mexican sausage, is very popular.”

The drink menu at Tequila Taco Bar is filled with specialty items along with traditional favorites.

“We have a big selection on our drink menu, from fresh margaritas to premiums,” Solis said. “We have a tequila sampler, tequila towers, 12 different draft beers, craft beers, Mexican beers, and many other drink items.”
