Kump Center hosting Pepperoni Roll Pop-up event

ELKINS – The Kump Education Center will host a Pepperoni Roll Pop-up event Saturday in the Randolph County Commission Annex parking lot located on Randolph Avenue.

The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pepperoni rolls being served at the fundraiser will be made by Gino’s Pizza and Spaghetti House. The event location is also known as the old IGA parking lot.

Each pepperoni roll will come with two sides, a cookie and a drink. Proceeds collected during the event will help support a pair of summer education programs at the Kump Center, as well as some much-needed maintenance on the facility.

“This is a fundraiser for the Kump Education Center and our preservation,” Kump Education Center Director Heather Biola told The Inter-Mountain. “We have to do a little work on the gutters and things like that. But we are really focused more on making some money for the summer programs, than focusing on fixing the house. But we have to do both.”

The two programs that will benefit the most from Saturday’s fundraiser are the Kump Center’s Summer Tutoring Program and its Spanish Language Camp, she said.

“We are going to open the Center up for individual tutoring and we would love to be able to use some of the money from the Pepperoni Roll Pop-up to fund that,” Biola said. “We want to help kids get ready for school next year. It’s mainly for elementary school students and I think the children are a little behind because they missed so many days of school with the snow this winter. And many of them will be going to a new school with the changes that have taken place. So we want to give them what support we can this summer.”

This will be the third-straight year for the Spanish Language Camp, which will run from July 20-July 24. The camp has had the maximum number of students attend the past two years.

“We will use part of the money we make this weekend on the Spanish Language Camp,” Biola said. “This year we are going to have Christmas in July with that, so they will learn some Christmas songs, like Feliz Navidad and things like that. It is for grade school, too, it’s introductory. But we will have several high school students working at it, helping with it.”
