Man charged after calling 911 to report UFO, zombies at home

NELAN

MONTROSE — A Randolph County man is facing charges after allegedly misusing the 911 line to report “supernatural” incidents at his home and falsely claiming to be a police officer.

Clinton Wayne Nolan, 33, is charged with one count of misuse of the 911 line and one count of impersonation of a law enforcement office or official, both misdemeanors. He is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $2,500 cash-only bond.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Deputy A.G. Vanscoy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on May 17, Vanscoy, along with Cpl. B.M. Roy, Trooper H.J. Bonetti and Officer S. Davis, responded to a residence on Chick Drive in Kerens. The officers went to the scene in reference to a subject who had repeatedly called Randolph County 911 to report “zombies and ghosts” at his residence.

Upon arrival, the subject, identified as Nolan, met officers in the drive way and allegedly began listing “numerous” individuals whom he claimed were harassing him, the complaint states. Nelan reportedly stated that zombies had been making noise around his residence and that a UFO had been flying around his house. Nelan allegedly claimed to be a police officer from Louisiana.

According to a press release put out by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, Nelan “knowingly misused the local emergency telephone system by reporting incidents that did not occur and falsely represented himself as law enforcement office.”
