PHILIPPI – The Blue and Gray Community Choir will once again appear during the annual Blue and Gray Reunion.
The concert will take place on Saturday, May 30 at 3 p.m. at the Philippi Baptist Church on Court Street (next to the Courthouse). This year's concert will continue the Choir's series of Reunion concerts first begun in 1989.
The program consists of a variety of choral pieces composed during the American Civil War or thematically related to it, to our beloved Appalachia, and to the history and culture of America in the nineteenth century.
The choir is comprised of volunteer amateurs, similar to a church choir, and has been working diligently in preparation for this concert since mid-March.
Accompanists for the choir are Mrs. Michele Moore and Mrs. Carol Isner. Music director is Dr. Judson Bracey, who returns to this position after a few years' absence. A new addition to this year's concert will be three songs performed by school-aged students of Mrs. Isner.
Admission to the concert is free. Philippi Baptist Church is air-conditioned and an elevator is available.
