Three new Pocahontas BOE members elected
MARLINTON – Three new Board of Education members were elected by Pocahontas County voters this week.
Connie Rose, Edwina Garber and Regina Hall were the top three Board of Education vote getters in Primary Election voting in Pocahontas County.
Rose received 1,164 votes, or 25.4% of the votes cast, while Garber totaled 844 votes, or 18.4%, and Hall garnered 804 votes, or 17.5%.
The other candidates included incumbent Andrew “Frosty” McNabb, who received 522 votes, or 11.4%; Karen McCoy, with 47 votes, or 9.8%; incumbent Morgan McComb, with 391 votes, or 8.5%; Stephen McCarty, Jr., with 239 votes, or 5.2%; Fred Koerber, with 124 votes, or 2.7%; and Carl Kelk, with 50 votes, or 1.1%.
In the Pocahontas County Commission race, the Republican nomination was won by Matthew Barkley, with 612 votes, or 65.9% of the votes cast. Second in the Republican race was Mike Garber, with 237 votes, or 25.24%; and incumbent John Rebinski, who tallied 90 votes, or 9.58%.
There was no Democrat Pocahontas County Commission candidate on the Primary Election ballot.
In Pocahontas County, a total of 1,835 Primary Election ballots were cast, out of 5,524 registered voters, a voter turnout percentage of 33.22%.
