The Inter-Mountain to celebrate America 250

ELKINS — Celebrate and learn more about the history of our state and nation with The Inter-Mountain’s America 250 special section this Tuesday.

In the June 30 edition of The Inter-Mountain, readers will find a special section with a series of articles honoring and celebrating 250 years of freedom, unity and opportunity. In this special section, the articles are intended to honor our past, celebrate our present and inspire our future. The special section will only be in the June 30 edition of The Inter-Mountain.

“For generations, newspapers have documented history as it happened,” The Inter-Mountain General Manager Michelle Smith said. “We are proud to celebrate America’s 250th Birthday by sharing the stories of our hometowns and honoring the veterans who fought for our freedom.”

The section will include articles from The Inter-Mountain staff writers and associates, detailing interesting state facts and defining moments in American history that happened right within our region. From the roles Beverly and Tucker County played in the Civil War to the Tygart Valley Homesteads of the Great Depression, there is plenty for readers to learn about West Virginia’s place in national history.

Readers can also find information on the country’s 63 national parks and the official symbols of the United States. Famous speeches will also be available to read, including President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream,” and more. Readers will also see lists detailing the 250 most important people in American history, 100 places that tell America’s story and more.

The Inter-Mountain wishes everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July.
