MILL CREEK — A Randolph County woman is charged with being an accessory after allegedly helping a man she knew was wanted for multiple felonies.

Sara Elizabeth Nelson, 34, of Mill Creek, is charged with one count of accessory after the fact, a felony. She is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond issued by Randolph County Magistrate Benjamin Shepler.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Trooper H.J. Bonetti with the West Virginia State Police, on Jan. 17, Bonetti, Trooper T.J. Sclimenti, Trooper T.E. Workman and Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy L. Elbon attempted to execute a warrant at a residence on Proudfoot Drive in Mill Creek.

The warrant was for Robert Michael Sparks, 45, of Huttonsville, who had multiple felony warrants out for his arrest, the complaint states. The officers failed to make contact with Sparks, but were able to speak with Nelson at the residence. Nelson was advised that Sparks had multiple felony warrants.

On Feb. 25, Bonetti attempted to execute the warrant for Sparks again at the Proudfoot Drive residence, the complaint states. Nelson allegedly told Bonetti that she had not seen Sparks and she was once again advised of the warrants.

The U.S. Marshals and the Elkins City Police later executed a warrant for Spark’s arrest in the Glenmore area of Elkins on June 8, the complaint states. During this execution, Sparks was placed under arrest. The residence he was found in allegedly belongs to Nelson’s father.

On June 8, Bonetti went back to the Proudfoot Drive residence again and spoke with Nelson, the complaint states. Nelson allegedly told Bonetti that she stays at her father’s Elkins residence weekly. She also allegedly stated that, in April, she picked up Sparks at the Sheetz gas station and took him to her father’s residence.

“(Nelson) aided and assisted Robert Sparks knowing Robert Sparks had multiple felony warrants,” Bonetti writes in his complaint.

Sparks has been charged with one count of driving revoked DUI third offense, one count of possession with intent to deliver and one count of conspiracy, all felonies. Sparks is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $30,000 cash-only bond.
