WEDNESDAY PICKIN': Country Music and Old-Time Jam Sessions are no longer being held at Armadillo Flats for the rest of the summer. From the present, until otherwise announced, the jams will take place at Elkins City Park in the Sycamore Street Pavillion every Wednesday. Country Music Jams are from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Old-Time Music Jams are from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Some jams may start sooner or end later. Players, singers and listeners are welcome. OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. ELKINS FARMERS MARKET: Open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon behind the Railroad Depot in Elkins. Parking can be found behind the Center Branch Church (formerly the Summit Church) buildings. ARMSTRONG REUNION: Family and friends of the late Noble B. and Flora "Bruse" Armstrong will have their family reunion on Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Mill Creek Community Building in Mill Creek at 1 p.m. Please bring a covered dish. All are welcome.
WELCH REUNION: The family of Wirt and Mabel Welch will hold their 50th Anniversary Welch Family Reunion on Aug. 1 at 1720 Kings Run Road Beverly West Virginia. Lunch is at noon, bring a covered dish. This will be an outside event so bring your chairs and a canopy if you have one.
CHICKEN BURN: The Elkins High School Cross Country teams will host a chicken burn with help from the Lions Club on Saturday, Aug. 1 in the old Elkins IGA parking lot. A $12 meal includes chicken, beans, dessert, chips and a drink.
TETER REUNION: The annual Teter reunion will be held on Aug. 2 at the Mt. Farm in Dry Fork. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Lunch will be at 12:30 p.m.
HELMICK REUNION: The 100th annual Helmick Reunion will be held Aug. 2 at the Sugarlands Church of the Brethren. Sunday school will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a basket lunch at 12:30 p.m. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
FREE CONCERT: The Descendants of the French Creek Pioneers non-profit group is hosting a free concert featuring Key to Adam on Aug. 7. Music to starts at 7 p.m. at the historic French Creek Presbyterian Church near the intersection of Hoovertown Road and Mulberry Ridge Road. Bring your own lawn chair as the concert will be outside. Rain location inside the church. Food will be available to purchase from the local food truck Shaftys Food Truck LLC before the music starts.
D.K. TETER 18TH REUNION: At the Elkins VFW at the intersection of Randolph and Davis Avenue will be Sunday, Aug. 9. The welcome will be noon to 1 p.m., with lunch at 1:30 p.m. The event will include fundraisers, gift baskets and a 50/50 drawing. Eating utensils will be furnished, along with drinks, meat and main dishes (scalloped potatoes, baked beans and mac & cheese). All are asked to bring a covered dish or favorite dessert. PASTINE REUNION: Family and friends of the late Toney and Annie Miller Pastine are invited to attend the annual reunion on Sunday, Aug. 9, at the Phillips Chapel Church Pavillion in Jimtown. ROBINSON REUNTION: The 94th annual Robinson Reunion will be held at Union Elementary School in Heavener Grove, Upshur County, with a hot dog roast at 6 p.m. on Aug. 8 and a covered dish dinner at 1 p.m. on Aug. 9.
EHS CLASS OF 1976: The Elkins High School Class of 1976 will hold its 50th year class reunion Friday, Aug. 21, thru Sunday, Aug. 23. A casual get together will be held on Friday at Magnolia Hall on Scott Hill in Elkins with hors devours from Beanders, games, and a 50/50 drawing. A buffet dinner, catered by Fish Hawk Acres, will be served at Magnolia Hall on Saturday. Activities for Saturday include a 50/50 drawing, silent auction/raffle, 70's music, a photo booth, and a class retrospect.
