Man charged in stolen side-by-side case

MILLER

MILL CREEK — A Randolph County man faces a felony charge after police allegedly found a stolen side-by-side in his possession.

Joshua Clarence Miller, 31, of Mill Creek, is charged with one count of receiving or transferring stolen goods. He is currently being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $2,500 cash-only bond.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Trooper H.J. Bonetti with the West Virginia State Police Elkins Detachment, on June 9, Bonetti, Trooper A. Jordan, Senior Trooper A. Petrella and Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputies B. Roy, A. Vanscoy and R. Schoonover executed an arrest warrant at a residence in Mill Creek.

During this, the officers observed a side-by-side in the driveway of the residence that matched the description of a stolen Polaris side-by-side, the complaint states. The residence was occupied by Miller and several other individuals. Vanscoy ran the VIN number on the side-by-side through the Randolph County Board of Emergency Management, who advised that the VIN number did have an NCIC hit for an ongoing investigation involving a missing side-by-side. The side-by-side was then towed to the West Virginia State Police Elkins Detachment.

On June 11, Bonetti made contact with Miller’s wife, the complaint states. She advised that Miller had been “fixing the side-by-side for somebody.”

A preliminary hearing for Miller has been scheduled for July 7 in Randolph County Magistrate Court.

Starting at $3.92/week.
